This delicate metalpoint drawing of a lady's head and shoulders was made by the great Italian Renaissance artist, Leonardo da Vinci, in the early 1490s. It appears that it may have been made in connection with Leonardo's contemporary portrait of Cecilia Gallerani in the Czartoryski Gallery, Krakow. The drawing belongs to the unparalleled series of six hundred drawings by Leonardo in the Royal Collection
