REMEMBRANCE

The Queen is Head of the Armed Forces and takes an active interest in the British and Commonwealth Armed Services.

Each year on Remembrance Sunday, Her Majesty leads the United Kingdom in honouring those who have lost their lives in combat at a National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London's Whitehall.

The Queen, with other members of the Royal Family, lays a wreath at the foot of the memorial which was unveiled in 1920 to commemorate all those who lost their lives in the Great War of 1914-1918.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

November's Focus marks this historic occasion with a gallery of images showing the Royal Family's links with Service organisations, both military and civilian.
